After Biman's Boeing 787-9 Shonar Tori unloaded on Thursday (Jan 9), the flight crew found two of the monitors of seats 26 A and 26 B broken. Even before a week could go by since Biman Bangladesh’s new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner started official operations passengers have damaged the In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) system monitors.
The state-owned airlines’ Engineering Department suspects that two of the monitors have been forcefully ripped off and the authority was already gearing up to take measures.
Flight BG-202 of the new 298-seater Dreamliner christened Shonar Tori landed in Dhaka on Thursday (Jan 9) from Manchester via Sylhet.
However, after unloading, the flight crew found two of the monitors of seats 26 A and 26 B broken.
Responding to queries on the matter, Biman Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Md Mokabbir Hossain said that a passenger damaging the brand-new addition to the state-owned airlines’ steadily expanding fleet is unfortunate.
“A lawsuit will be filed against the passenger based on the flight information,” he said before adding until the monitors are fixed, the passengers will be deprived of in-flight entertainment.
On Jan 5, Shonar Tori started its commercial journey with 268 passengers from Manchester, a route Biman halted in 2012 due to aircraft crisis. With the addition of the sixth Dreamliner, Biman now has a fleet of 18 aircrafts.
