“The gang has been active in marketing counterfeit money for many years. We got a tip-off on the upcoming instalment of the fake currency beforehand,” said RAB-10 Commanding Officer Md Kaiumuzzaman Khan.

Acting on a tip-off from Alam, RAB-10 conducted a drive at a flat, which was used for producing counterfeit money, at Dhanmondi 7/A road and arrested his accomplice Saiful Islam on Friday (Jan 10).
The elite force has seized over Tk 10 million in counterfeit banknotes from the currency-printing factory.
“The factory has been discovered while a team made a drive to catch the gang,” he said.
RAB-10 Deputy Commanding Officer said that the duo has started dealing fake currency in 2000 and set up the factory at Dhanmondi five years ago.
According to the elite force, the operation is ongoing to arrest other members of the criminal ring on the run.
