Make intelligence unit’s failure public: HC

REUTERS/File PhotoThe High Court has recommended the then Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) intelligence unit’s failure regarding the Pilkhana Carnage to be made public.
Justice Nazrul Islam Talukdar, one of the three judges of the special HC bench made the recommendation in the full text of the case’s verdict on Wednesday (Jan 8).
He said that undertaking programs that jeopardised the BDR’s honour as law enforcers will nor be useful, swift steps on the home ministry and now BGB authority’s part in case of problems, deal with dissatisfaction from the officers, paying of BGB members’ TDA bills as soon as possible, resolve leave-related issues, create environment for cordial ties between officers and soldiers, legal steps against those who neglect duty.
The court also recommended discarding usage of uncalled for language and behaviour between officers and soldiers and beefing up monitoring BGB’s armoury to avoid another incident such as the one in Pilkhana.
