Heavy lobbying for Islamic Foundation DG post

File photo of Shamim Mohammad AfzalShamim Mohammad Afzal acted as director general of the Islamic Foundation for 11 years and left. Now he wants to come back to the same post. On Dec 30, before the tenure of his deal expired, he began making efforts to retain the post.
The contractual appointment Shamim expired on Dec 30, 2019.
On Saturday (Dec 4), several sources of the Islamic Foundation said that Shamim had renewed several contracts and then served for 11 years as a DG.
A ministry official says: “Currently, an additional secretary is serving as DG but Shamim wants to come back and the issue depends on the prime minister.”
While there is opposition to Shamim, he has proved his loyalty to the government so may get another renewal.
State Minister for Religion, Sheikh Abdullah, said: “An additional secretary has been given the post of the DG at the moment but the date for the new DG appointment has not been fixed as yet.”
Meanwhile, several officials of the Islamic Foundation, said: “There are accusations of corruption against Shamim which are under investigation by the ACC.”
RAM Ubaidul MoktadirChowdhury, Islamic Foundation board of governors added: “The decision lies on the government; if someone lobbies then it’s his/her personal matter.”
