DU rape victim describes horrific ordeal

This was how one of the witnesses described to Bangla Tribune after they heard the horrific ordeal of the Dhaka University student who was raped in the capitals' Kurmitola on Sunday (Jan 5).
The second-year student is now being treated at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital's (DMCH) One-Stop Crisis Centre.
Accompanied by the doctors, friends and two teachers of the university -- Prof Sadeka Halim and Samina Lutfa -- heard the horrific details of the incident at the hospital.
According to the victim's accounts, Prof Sadeka said, the rapist was repeatedly asking her name. But she realised that if he could know her identity he might kill her.
Explaining the appearance of the perpetrator, the DU teacher said as per the victim's´ description the rapist appeared to be a serial killer and repeatedly committed crimes like rape in cold blood.
There was a lone rapist, the victim was quoted by Sadeka as saying.
Describing how she escaped her horror, DMCH Forensic department chief Dr Sohel Mahmud said that at one point after she regained consciousness, she saw the man looking into her bags. Instantly, she ran away.
After taking a short walk, she failed to get in a vehicle then she arrived in her friend's residence by foot around 10:30pm, another DU teacher Samina quoted the victim.
The victim's body including her hands bore a number of hit marks. She had to face a huge force. Due to her strong mentality, she managed to escape the scene even after three hours, Samina said.
She described the details on the appearance of the man to police, said Samina quoting the victim that the rapist looked 'arrogant'.
Citing the victim needs mental support in addition to her treatment, Prof Sadeka urged all to cooperate with her.
