Police are yet to identify the suspects of the crude bomb blasts in front of Dhaka University Madhur Canteen compound and Paltan areas, says Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam.
"Investigation has been opened. Hopefully, the suspects will be identified in a very short time and brought to book," DMP chief Islam told media at the DMP media centre on Monday (Dec 30).
“Police cannot enter the Dhaka University premises whenever they want. However, police’s intelligence agency is investigating the incident,” he said.
The street in front of BNP's office in Paltan is a very busy road, so it is very tough to identify who hurled the crude bombs, he added.
The deputy commissioners of police have been instructed to cover the areas under CCTV in connection to these incidents, he added.
The commissioner also said that, as there are potential threats of unwanted situation ahead of New Year celebrations, no programme in open spaces is permitted this year.
