A crude bomb has been recovered from the forepart of the historical Madhur Canteen at the University of Dhaka, while leaders, activists of Chhatra League and Chhatra Dal were inside the building.
The incident was reported at 10:45am on Thursday (Dec 26).
“We have sent a mobile team at the scene after being informed about the crude bomb explosion,” the university Proctor AKM Golam Rabbani said before adding the police had been notified over the matter.
One of the eyewitnesses, Chhatra League Organising Secretary Nazim Uddin said, “I have heard a mild sound of the explosion, the crude bomb didn’t explode properly.”
Chhatra League General Secretary Saddam Hussain has denied any acknowledgement over the incident before saying, “I will look over the matter.”
Chhatra Dal President Fazlur Rahman Khokon and General Secretary Iqbal Hossain Shyamol can’t be reached for comment.
