The government has formed a panel to fight air and dust pollution in capital Dhaka.
The decision came during a policymaking meeting held at the local government ministry on Thursday (Dec 19).
The panel has been ordered to submit a report within seven days on the finances, equipment and manpower required to implement the project.
The panel with Maran Kumar Chakraborti, the additional secretary to local government ministry as its convener, includes representatives from the city corporations of Dhaka South and North, Narayanganj, Gazipur, ministries of environment, finance, home and Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK).
Previously, Dhaka South and North mayors, Atiqul Islam and Sayeed Khokon both warned of punitive actions against who are responsible for air and dust pollution, mainly construction contractors.
