The High Court has ordered the completion of Primary Education Certificate (PEC) exam for 15 expelled students by Dec 28. The court also summoned the director general of primary and mass education department.
The order was given on Wednesday (Dec 18) by a joint bench of justices Enayetur Rahim and Mostafizur Rahman.
On Nov 19, a national daily published a news titled: “Why were children expelled at PEC exams?” Which was later brought to the court’s attention by Advocate Jamiul Huq Faisal.
Advocate Faisal said: “The expelled students are between the ages 10-11 and expulsion at this age will have an adverse impact on their minds; instead of expulsion, other methods could have been adopted.”
Taking the report into cognizance, the high court issued a ruling, asking why the expulsion should not be considered illegal and why the students should not be given the chance to give the exam?
