Top BNP leaders, including its Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, have sought bail in two cases filed over the torching of three motorbikes in front of three gates of the Supreme Court.
The plea was lodged with the High Court bench of Justice Jahangir Hossain and Justice Riaz Uddin Khan on Sunday (Dec 15).
The party's National Standing Committee members Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Vice Chairman Mahbub Uddin Khokon, Moazzen Hossain Alal, Khairul Kabir Khokon, Fazlul Haque Milon, Shimul Biswas, Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel, Shafiul Bari Babu, Nipun Rai Chowdhury, Kazi Abul Bashar and Ishtiaq Ulfat Pramukh have sought bail along with Fakhrul.
Police filed the arson cases with Shahbag police against 135 BNP leaders on Wednesday (Dec 11).
On Dec 11, a day before the bail hearing of BNP chief Khaleda Zia, unidentified miscreants torched three motorcycles in front of three Supreme Court gates.
Three firefighting units doused the fires and police initially suspected the incident to be arson given that no one claimed ownership of the bikes.
