Police have recovered the dead bodies of a couple from a rooftop room of a five-storey building in the Motijheel on Wednesday (Dec 11) night.

The deceased were Shahidul, 36, caretaker of the building and Morzina, 22, his wife.

Shahidul’s body was found hanging from the roof of his room while his wife Morzina’s body was found sealed inside a plastic drum, Md Jahidul Islam Sohag, senior assistant police commissioner of DMP's Motijheel Division.

According to police sources, the owner of the building has been staying in America. The whole building has been rented to different printing presses.

“Shahidul used to collect the rent and send it to the owner in the US. Shahidul and Morzina got married a few months earlier,” sources added.

The bodies were taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.
