The top personnel of the state must say ‘Joy Bangla,’ in the beginning and ending of all state programs from Dec 16 onwards, the High Court (HC) instructed.
The bench of justices FRM Nazmul Ahasan and KM Kamrul Kader gave the order on Tuesday (Dec 10) after hearing a petition in this regard.
The bench said, “The slogan ‘Joy Bangla’ has united the nation to fight in the Liberation War led by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.”
On Dec 4 2017, the HC issued a ruling asking why ‘Joy Bangla’ should not be announced national slogan, after laywer Bashir Ahmed has filed a writ seeking directives for it.
The cabinet, law and education secretaries were made respondents to the rule.
