War crimes: Verdict against Tipu Sultan Wednesday

International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)The Internation Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has fixed Wednesday (Dec 11) to deliver the verdict against Abdus Sattar alias Tipu Razakar alias Tipu Sultan for his alleged involvement in crimes against humanity in Rajshahi’s Boalia during the Liberation War.
A three-member panel of the ICT headed by Justice Md Shahinur Islam fixed the date on Tuesday (Dec 10).
On Mar 27, the ICT formally brought war crime charges against him, including looting and setting fire to at least 12 houses, killing 10 people and torturing two others.
The tribunal indicted Tipu, a former activist of Jamaat-e-Islami’s student front Islami Chhatrashibir, on Aug 8 this year.
On Oct 17, the tribunal kept the judgement waiting in the case against alleged Razakar Tipu Sultan after the conclusion of arguments by the prosecution and defence.
