2 college students killed in road accident near Radisson hotel

Diya Khanam Mim - Abdul Karim (R)At least two students of Ramij Uddin Cantonment College are killed on Sunday and several others injured in a massive road accident near Radisson hotel in Capital.

The students were waiting for a bus on the left side of Airport Road where a Jebel e Noor bus crashed on them at around 12:30pm.

They are taken to nearby Kurmitola Hospital.

Assistant Director of the hospital Lieutenant Colonel Md Sagir Miah said, one male and one female student are dead.

They are identified as Abdul Karim, a student of 12 class, and Diya Khanam Mim, a student of class 11.

Eye witnesses and other students claimed that at least three were killed in the road crash.

Police have taken the driver and its helper into custody.

The eye witnesses said a fast moving Jebel-e-Noor bus lost control and ran over the students.

At least one student is spot dead and several others were critically injured, they said. However, the students claimed that three were spot dead.

Earlier, Additional Police Super of Gulshan Abdul Ahad said, we rushed to the spot when we were informed about the accident.

“We, so far, know the death of one person and the rest are admitted to Kurmitola hospital. We have taken the driver and the helper into custody,” he said.

The agitated college students have taken to the street and torched a Jebel e Noor bus and vandalized several others leaving hundreds of cars stranded on Airport road.

Later, the movement started after a police intervention.
