Police on Sunday arrested one Civil Aviation employee and two passengers for gold smuggling.
Over 6.5 kgs of gold worth Tk 33 million were found from the possessions of Md Jamal Uddin Patwary, a Cleaning Shift Incharge, and Ekramul Haq and Zahidul Haq, the passengers.
Dhaka Customs House Deputy Commissioner Othello Chowdhury said, acting on a tip-off, they took position at the lounge on the third floor at the Shahjalal International Airport and arrested the trio when the passengers were handed over the gold to the civil aviation employee.
The passengers came to Dhaka through an Emirates flight in the morning.
