Daily dengue cases see significant fall

REUTERSThe report on daily dengue cases has declined significantly with only 43 dengue patients being taken in the hospitals across Bangladesh in the last 24 hours till 8am on Friday (Dec 6).
Data from the Directorate General of Health Services' (DGHS) the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room at shows the number of patients hospitalised with dengue-related fever fell by 51 percent on Friday from that of the preceding day.
“On Thursday (Dec 5) the number of newly admitted dengue patients was 88, which falls to 43 in next 24 hours,” DGHS Control Room Assistant Director Aysha Akter told Bangla Tribune.
“The number of dengue patients has been dropping for the last two months. However, it dropped to half yesterday,” she added.
Among the new patients, 26 were admitted at the hospitals in Dhaka and 17 in hospitals outside the capital.
Currently, a total of 344 patients were undergoing treatment in government and private hospitals across the country, including that of 210 patients receiving treatment in Dhaka, the DGHS data said.
Since Jan 1 till Dec 6, as many as 100,567 people have been affected by dengue.
A total of 129 dengue patients have died across the country from Jan 1 till Dec 6, according to Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) after they reviewed 268 deaths, so far.
Among those admitted, a total of 99,859 have been released from their respective hospitals and clinics after treatment.
