The autopsy report of the woman and her house help who were found dead inside a house in Mirpur, revealed their cause of death to be strangulation.
Another test will be conducted to confirm whether the house help was raped, KM Mainuddin of the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College's Forensic department, said on Wednesday (Dec 4).
On Tuesday (Dec 3), police recovered the bodies of Shaheda Begum, 65, a housewife, and her domestic help Sumi Akter, 15, from a house in the capital's Mirpur 2.
“We rushed to the spot after being informed and found the bodies lying on the floor of Shaheda’s flat in that building around 7:30pm,” said Mirpur police SI Syed Akter Hossain.
“Afterwards, we notified the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). They later recovered the bodies,” he added.
Sumi had started working at Shaheda’s house on Monday (Dec 2), police said, quoting the teen’s aunt, who found the bodies first when she went to the flat on the fourth floor.
Sumi's aunt said she had found the flat’s main door open.
