Muktijuddho Mancha, a platform for the decedents of the freedom fighters, has locked down the office Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) Vice-President Nurul Haque Nur’s.
Muktijuddho Mancha locked the office around 11am on Wednesday (Dec 4) soon after they torched effigies of Nur.
Al Mamun, general secretary of the platform, alleged that they locked the office in protest after the emergence of a leaked phone conversation, in which Nur was heard discussing an "illicit transaction".
“He (Nur) does not deserve the office after this. So, we locked down his offices as a symbol of protest,” said Al Mamun.
However, Nur told Bangla Tribune, “Muktijuddho Mancha leaders are a faction of Bangladesh Chhatra League. What they have done is unlawful.
“DUCSU president is now abroad and he will probe over the matter.”
DUCSU President and university’s Vice-Chancellor Dr Akhteruzzaman was could not be reached for a comment as he is abroad.
On Tuesday (Dec 3), an audio clip was appeared on social media, in which Nur was heard attempting to bribe a person.
