The burden of society is rather corrupt, drug addicts and criminals than autistic children, said Education Minister Dipu Moni.
“Autistic children evidently possess and eventually they become great scientists, artists. The real burden of the society is who are corrupt, criminals and drug addicts,” she said.
Her remarks came during a seminar on autism and Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (NDD) students at Rajshahi’s Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman Auditorium on Sunday (Dec 1).
“We have learnt to see the light in the divergence of autistic children. They should be included in mainstream society,” the minister said.
Urging to change the views of teachers, Minister Dipu Moni said, “Some teachers can’t handle autistic students. They should be trained properly.”
“Around 30,000 teachers have been already trained specializing on autism,” she added.
