Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) will launch mobile courts to control air pollution, said Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon.
“The development sites should be managed properly. Construction materials should not be kept uncontrolled and disorderly. Otherwise, the mobile courts will take punitive actions,” said the mayor.
His remarks came during the inauguration of water-spraying operation to fight the menace of Dhaka's dust on Sunday (Dec 1) in front of DSCC headquarter Nagar Bhaban.
“Development projects including metro railway and the elevated expressway is the key to air pollution. DSCC projects also pollute the city air,” the mayor added.
“We are expecting air pollution will be reduced soon after the constructions completed,” he added.
Apologizing for the hazards, the mayor said, “We hope citizens will consider the scourge temporary for the sake of the development works.”
