A suspected drug trader was killed in a reported gunfight with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Dhaka’s Khilkhet area early Monday (Nov 25).
The deceased was identified as, Mizanur Rahman Mintu alias Megha Mintu, 34, was a listed drug dealer and an accused of 13 cases, claimed RAB.
“A listed drug dealer (Mizanur) died in a gunfight with a patrol team of RAB,” confirmed RAB-1 Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Kamruzzaman.
Tipped-off, a team of RAB-1 conducted a drive in the area to recover drugs around 1 am, said the RAB official.
Criminals opened fire as soon as the elite force reached the area, triggering a skirmish, he added.
Mizanur was caught in the line of fire and suffered gunshot wounds.
Later, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
The RAB members also recovered foreign pistol, bullets and a huge amount of drugs.
