Zia Charitable Trust graft: Khaleda moves apex court for bail

Khaleda’s counsel Advocate Sagir Hossain filed the petition on Thursday (Nov 14).
On Jul 31, the High Court bench of justices Obaidul Hassan and SM Kuddus Zaman scrapped her bail plea in the case.
On Oct 5, 2018 Dhaka Special Judge Court-5 sentenced her to seven-years in prison and also slapped her with a fine for her involvement in the graft case.
On Apr 30 this year, the HC accepted Khaleda’s bail petition for hearing. The court also issued stay on her fine and a status quo on the seizure of her assets.
A three-time prime minister, Khaleda was also given a 10-year prison time for embezzling funds for Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
