The airport Armed Police Battalion and Dhaka Customs House recovered 76 gold bars weighing around nine kilograms after conducting a five-hour search on Wednesday (Nov 13) evening.
Biman’s Boeing 777-300 ‘Akashdeep,’ was taken to the hanger after it landed in Dhaka from Abu Dhabi.
“We got news that there is gold under the seat of the aircraft. After searching, we found it hidden inside the pipe under the seat,” said APBN Additional Superintendant Alamgir Hossain.
Dhaka Customs House Additional Commissioner Sazzad Hossain said that the recovered gold has a market value of Tk 45 million.
The aircraft was at the hanger after coming from Abu Dhabi. 76 gold bars, confirmed Dhaka Customs House Assistant Commissioner Sazzad Hossain.
