Last day of DLF begins

Shashi Tharoor at a Dhaka Lit Fest 2019 panel on Nov 9, 2019. Mehedi HasanThe last day of Dhaka Lit Fest started on a spiritual note on Saturday (Nov 9), with a Bhajan Kirtan session held in the lawn of the historic Bangla Academy.
Beginning at 9am, the whole day program will host sessions such as "Love, Africa", moderated by Dhaka Tribune Editor Zafar and participated by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Jeffrey Gettleman at the AKSB Auditorium.
Simultaneously, a session on the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will be held at V Novera Hall, titled "Bangabandhu in his own words". The panel will include Pro-Vice Chancellor of East West University Fakrul Alam, Managing Director of University Press Limited (UPL), Mahrukh Mohiuddin, and eminent Bangladeshi writer, folklorist and author Shamsuzzaman Khan.
Member of Parliament for Thiruvananthapuram and prominent Indian writer Shashi Tharoor will also attend a panel titled "India Against Itself" at AKSB Auditorium, moderated by DLF Co-Director Ahsan Akbar.
Other panels, such as: "The Art of Conversation" attended by the three directors of DLF Ahsan Akbar, K Anis Ahmed and Sadaf Saaz; "South Asian Dichotomies" with authors HM Naqvi, Nadeem Zaman, and Tishana Doshi, and moderator Samrat Chowdhury; "Will" with Booker Prize-shortlister Will Self and author Khademul Islam, will also be held, starting from 9am to 5:15pm.
The day will end with the closing ceremony "Kaler Jatrar Dhoni" and a performance by Chandana Majumdar, taking place simultaneously at 5:30pm.
On Friday (Nov 8), undeterred by the inclement weather caused by looming cyclone Bulbul, literature lovers thronged to the fest to attend the numerous panels. The food court also drew a remarkable crowd, who braved the rain to stroll on the grass of the Bangla Academy lawn. As lanterns were lit near the AKSB Auditorium, festival goers finally started leaving the premise, already looking forward to attending the last day of DLF.
