Rumours are circulating in social media over question leaks amid Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations began across the country.
Sample questions were circulated from a number of Facebook accounts prior to the test started on Saturday (Nov 2) morning.
Model questions were posted on a number of Facebook accounts and pages including ‘Sure success suggestions of all board test (sokol board porikkhar sure success suggestions), ‘Ahmed Sunny’, ‘Mahmud Hasan’, ‘Mahmud Raihan’, ‘Degree Honours Masters Question Papers and 100 percent common suggestions’ (Degree Honours Masters prosnoportro and 100 percent common suggestions), and ‘Ahmed Shehzad, .
Besides, images of Bangla subject questions were posted on a Facebook page ‘HSC Board Exam Suggestion & Admission Exam Suggestion-2019’ an hour before the test ended at 1pm.
However, no similarities were found between the sample and actual questions after test takers started posting the real questions on Facebook.
Education Minister Dipu Moni also admitted question leak rumours in social media saying intelligence agencies are vigilant now.
Dipu said, "We saw some frauds pocketed money spreading rumours over question paper leak through the Facebook.
“Now intelligence agencies have brought them under their surveillance," she told the media after visiting JSC and JDC examinations centre in Dhaka.
The minister urged parents to send their children to the examination centres with good preparation.
"If you resort to unfair means to ensure your children's good results, it will ruin their future," Dipu said.
So far, 118 members of different gangs have been arrested in a bid check the roumours, Sheikh Nazmul Alam, joint commissioner (crime) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, told Bangla Tribune.
Several police teams are working to arrest the rest of gangs who are now active, said Alam before calling the guardian to inform the police at once when they came to know anything about question leaks.
