Police have been given 10 days to quiz Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) ward councillor and Awami League leader Moinul Haque Manju in two cases filed over drugs and illegal firearms.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dhiman Chandra Mondal passed the remand order on Friday (Nov 1) after police sought 14 days in remand to Manju in two cases.
On Thursday (Oct 31), Rapid Action Battalion filed two cases against Manju with the capital's Wari police under the Narcotics and the Arms Acts hours after RAB raided the office of Manju, councillor of ward No 39, and arrested him.
Manju was allegedly involved in extortion, drug dealings, gambling and illegal land grabbing.
