The court has set Nov 20 for the submission of the probe report in the murder of Samiya Afrin Sayma who was found dead at Dhaka’s Wari after being sexually assaulted before she was strangled to death by a rope.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mainul Islam set the date on Tuesday (Oct 29) after the investigators failed to submit the probe report.
The suspect, Harun-ur-Rashid who is currently in jail confessed to Saima’s murder on Jul 8.
Police recovered the body of seven-year-old Sayma, a student of Silverdale School, from an unfinished apartment two floors above her Wari home on Jul 5.
It was found later the little girl was brutally raped by Harun and he dragged her lifeless body by tying a rope around her neck and took it to the kitchen of that vacant flat and fled the scene.
