The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has written to banks seeking the details of the accounts of Ashraf Hossain, popularly known as 'Ghotok Pakhi Vai' for his matchmaking business.
On Monday (Oct 28), the tax regulator's Central Intelligences Cell (CIC) sent letters to the respective banks on the matter and asked them to report in seven days.
In the letter, the CIC sought details of the accounts including deposit, investment and assets in the vaults belonging to Managing Director of M/S Ghotok Pakhi Vai (Pvt) Ltd Ashraf Hossain, and Director Sultana Begum.
The letter, however, mentioned no reason on why NBR sought their bank statement.
