On Tuesday (Oct 22), RAB carried out a drive at the education institute from 11pm till 2am of Wednesday (Oct 23). Around 16,000 books hoarded illegally in the school’s store room were confiscated. Nizam Uddin told Bangla Tribune: “While taking the books which are to be distributed free of cost, the locals found out and informed RAB. Later, RAB found evidence of the books being sold to make paper bags.”
Nizam Uddin has said that a letter will be sent to the relevant government department mentioning the items found at the school.
“We carried out the drive when information came that books meant to be distributed free of cost were being sold,” he added.
As per rule, excess books are supposed to be returned, which did not happen. RAB feels that more information will be revealed through in depth investigation.
The headmaster of the school Afsana Mirza has not made a comment on the matter as yet.
