Following nine days of demonstration over the killing of Abrar Fahad murder, students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technlogy (BUET) have announced to halt their protest.

Following nine days of demonstration over the killing of Abrar Fahad murder, students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technlogy (BUET) have announced to halt their protest.

The announcement was made on Tuesday (Oct 15) at a media call on the campus.

They, however, said that they will not be taking part in any academic activities until the expulsion of the suspects after the charge sheet is submitted.

On Oct 7, Abrar, a second-year student of electrical and electronic engineering department of the university, was beaten to death.

A group of BCL BUET unit leaders and activists bludgeoned Abrar to death allegedly for his social media post criticizing the recent Bangladesh-India deal on sharing the water of Five River.

Abrar's father BarkatUllah filed a murder case against 19 people with the capital's Chawkbazar police on Monday (Oct 7) evening.

Police have arrested 20 people over the murder that sparked protest across the country with protesters demanding justice for Abrar and capital punishment for the murderers.

The BUET authorities also banned the activities of all political student bodies on the campus amid the student protest.
