BNP Vice-Chairman Hafiz Uddin Ahmed has been arrested in a case filed under the Digital Security Act.
Police arrested Hafiz from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday (Oct 12) night, said Shaikh Md Shamim, assistant commissioner, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Pallabi zone.
He added that Hafiz and Ishak have been sued for sending false, misleading and fabricated information about the role of government agencies through email.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-4 Sub-Inspector Abu Sayed filed the case under the Digital Security Act.
The BNP has condemned the arrests of the senior leader with Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi demanding the release of Hafiz Uddin Ahmed without any condition.
