Four suspected Ansar-al-Islam operatives held in Dhaka

DB officials presents arrested 4 suspected Ansar-al-Islam members in front of the media in Dhaka on Friday (Oct 11).Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police have detained four suspected members of banned militant outfit Ansar-al-Islam in Dhaka.
The detainees have been identified as Md Shahin alias Omar, Md Saiful Islam, Hanifuzzaman alias Biplob, and Md Al Mamun.
CTTC Chief Monirul Islam at a media briefing on Friday said: "Acting on a tip-off, the four were detained from Dhaka's Jatrabari area around 7:30pm on Thursday (Oct 10)."
The four, along with two others, were working as a cell, he added.
The CTTC chief continued: "Shahin is a second-year aviation engineering student at a university in South Korea.
"He came back to Dhaka with the goal of trying to unify Ansar-al-Islam and the new Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh."
