Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Councillor Habibur Rahman Mizan from Moulvibazar.
The arrest was made early on Friday (Oct 11) in front of Hamida Abashik Guest House at Guha Road in the district's Sreemangal Upazila, said RAB.
"Habibur Rahman Mizan has been arrested as part of the ongoing anti-casino crackdown," said Mizanur Rahman, senior assistant director of RAB legal and media wing.
"He was trying to flee to India," added the senior elite police official.
Mizan, the councillor of DNCC's ward No 32, reportedly went underground after the government launched its anti-casino drive.
