The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) awarded death penalty to four war criminals for committing crimes against humanity in Rajnagar Upazila of Moulvibazar district during the 1971 Liberation War.
The four convicts are Akmal Ali Talukdar, 73, Abdur Nur Talukdar alias Lal Miah, Anis Miah and Abdul Mosabbir Miah.
Of them, Akmal Ali, a retired teacher, is now in captivity while the three others are fugitive to justice.
The three-member tribunal led by Justice Shahinur Islam passed the order on Tuesday.
Earlier, the tribunal kept the judgment pending until some subsequent day after concluding the hearing of both sides on Mar 27.
The prosecution brought several allegations against the four of committing murder, genocide, rape, abduction, plunder and arson during the liberation war in 1971.
Among those, two allegations were proved against them.
On May 7, 2017, the tribunal framed charges against them the four after the submission of final probe report on Mar 23, 2016.
