Heavy showers have waterlogging streets in Dhaka causing difficulty for commuters.
Just within half-an-hour of the downpour on Tuesday (Oct 1), the social media has been flooded with videos of waterlogging on Mirpur’s RokeyaSarani and Kazipara, Jahangir Gate, Green Road, parts of Indira Road, Tejgaon, Kalabagan, Tejturipara, Shukrabadh, Dhanmondi, Jhigatala, Shankar, Jatrabari, Bashundhara Residential Area and many places of Old Dhaka.
At the same time, heavy gridlock on major roads, where the areas were inundated, made it extremely difficult for city dwellers to commute. Many people were seen wading through the water to reach their destinations.
Meanwhile, the Met office said it predicts light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind over the country in the next 24 hours.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Dhaka, Mymensingh Chittagong and Sylhet divisions, at many places over Khulna and Barisal divisions and a few places over Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions during the time,” a met office bulletin said on Tuesday.
Moreover, some places over Barisal, Chittagong, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions may see moderately heavy to very heavy falls until Wednesday morning, it added.
