The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has seized a huge cache of gold and cash from residences of two Awami League leaders in Dhaka’s Gendaria.

Early on Tuesday (Sept 24), the elite police unit raided the residences of Enamul Haque Enu, a vice president of the party’s Gendaria Thana unit and Rupon Bhuiyan, the general secretary of the same unit.

“As part of the crackdown against casinos and bars, RAB conducted raid on Enu’s home and seized huge amount of illegal money and gold jewelleries.”

RAB sources said that raid was conducted based on allegations of the involvement of Enu and Rupon in illegal casinos. The local Awami League leaders lived in two flats of the same building at Old Dhaka's Murgitola area.
