ACC sues Rangpur medical chief for embezzlement

SAZZAD HOSSAIN/File PhotoThe Anti Corruption Commission has filed a case against Rangpur Medical College principal Dr Nur Islam and five other over allegations of embezzling nearly Tk 45 million in the procurement of equipments.

 ACC Deputy Assistant Director Ferdous Rahman filed the case at the graft watchdog’s integrated district office in Rangpur on Thursday (Sept 12).

The rest of the accused are equipment supplier Bengal Scientific Company owner Zaher Uddin Sarker, his father Abdus Sattar, son Ahsan Habib, brother-in-law Asadur Rahman and Rangpur Medical College Community Medicine Department Assistant Professor Md Sarwat Hossain.

According to the case documents, the six people stand accused of embezzling Tk 45 million from Mar 21 to Jun 30 last year.
