The Anti Corruption Commission has arrested an official of Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU) on the charge of embezzling Tk 5.3 million.
Md Yunus Sharfi, a caretaker engineer of PSTU, were arrested from the southern district's Dumki Bazar area on Monday (Sept 8), ACC spokesperson Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told Bangla Tribune.
Later in the day, ACC Deputy Director Md Mozahar Ali Sardar filed a case against Yunus at the graft watchdog's integrated district office in Patuakhali under Anti-Corruption Act and penal code.
Yunus faced the allegation of misappropriating Tk 5,350,390 between Jun 21, 2016, and Jun 30, 2017, Bhattacharya said.
Charges of forgery, cheating and abuse of power over six tenders have been brought against the university official, he added.
