The United Kingdom (UK) authorities have detained five Bangladeshi citizens in the last one week for allegedly not having legal papers.
The Immigration Enforcement Unit detained them after raiding two restaurants, a UK home ministry spokesperson told Bangla Tribune.
He said that two of the Bangladeshis, aged 56 and 29 have been sent to the Immigration Detention Centre to send them back.
He added that cases of illegal immigration are ongoing against the rest of the three but refused reveal their identities.
It is estimated that around a 100,000 Bangladeshis have been residing in the UK for a long time without any legal documents.
Recently Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was assured by her UK counterpart Boris Johnson that the illegal immigrants would be given legal status.
