At least 17 people have sustained burn injuries as gas cylinders exploded in a local restaurant in Board Bazar area of Gazipur.
The incident occurred around 2:30 am on Sunday (Sept 9).
Among the injured, 15 were taken to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for treatment and the remaining two were provided treatment at a local hospital, Tongi Fire Service and Civil Defence official Ershad Hossain told Bangla Tribune.
He said the area's local restaurants such as Radhuni Hotel and Tripti Hotel, and the nearby IFIC Bank suffered damage the most by the blast.
Both these restaurants were owned by the same person.
Although the identities of the injured could not be confirmed yet, it was certain that the injured are mostly staffs of the restaurants, the fire service official added.
