The High Court has adjourned the hearing of petitions by BNP chief Khaleda Zia seeking bail and a freeze on the trial over the Cumilla bus firebombing until Jul 15.
The bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice SM Mozibur Rahman passed adjourned the hearings on Tuesday.
The case was filed with Cumilla’s Chouddagram police over the death of seven people in an arson attack in February 2016.
In March 2017, police pressed charges against Khaleda in a Cumilla court. On May 27, this year Khaleda’s counsels filed a petition seeking to quash the case.
Following three days of hearings, the court adjourned the matter on Tuesday.
A former prime minister, Khaleda is serving a five-year term at the old jailhouse on Dhaka’s Nazimuddin Road since Feb 8, when a Dhaka court found her guilty of embezzling foreign donations made to the Zia Orphanage Trust.
