Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institute (BSTI) has informed the High Court that the Certification Marks (CM) of 13 products have been revoked after they were found to be substandard.
The standard regulator submitted a report to the bench of justices Sheikh Hassan Arif and Badruzzaman on Tuesday (Aug 27). Barrister Sarkar MR Hassan represented the BSTI.
The 13 products were found to be substandard after samples of 154 products were tested at BSTI labs from June to August.
The products are Farm Fresh ghee, Shakti kitchen fortified mustard oil, Safe fortified mustard oil, Camel brand iodized salt, Nazrul iodized salt, Madina Lachcha Semai, Modern Skin Cream, GM Skin Cream, Arabian Special Ghee, Raven Lachcha Semai, Kazana Laccha Semai, Khazana Ghee and Khazana Chanachur.
The court fixed Oct 15 for the next hearing on this regard.
Earlier, BSTI revoked the CM licence of 20 products among 52 others that had been identified as substandard in a quality test.
Producers, suppliers, wholesalers, and retailers are prohibited from producing, distributing, preserving and promoting these products until they meet the BSTI standards.
