A young girl who worked as a housemaid has died after falling from the balcony of a multi-storey building in Dhanmondi of Dhaka.

The deceased has been identified as Ria Akhter, 13, resident of Namapara village of Jamalpur’s Bakshiganj upazila.

She had been working as a housemaid at the house of Mominul Ahsan who lived on the tenth floor of a multi-storey building in Dhanmondi since last year.

On being informed, police went to the spot early Friday (Aug 16) and recovered the body, said Dhanmondi police station Sub-Inspector Polash Biswas.

The body has been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Police found clothes hanging from the balcony and primarily suspected that the young girl had died on the spot after falling from a great height while trying to climb down the building through the balcony.
