Argentina fan who suffers electrical injury while hoisting flag diesA man, who suffered severe burn injuries after he came into contact with live electric wires while hoisting the flag of Argentina, has died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, sources said.
40-year-old Towhid-E-Murshid, hailed from Kisoreganj’s Tarail Upazila, succumbed to his injuries on Friday afternoon.
Towhid, who was a fan of Argentina football team, tried to hoist a flag of Argentina on the roof of his house in the city’s Mirpur Section 13 on Jul 15, said Zillur Rahman, elder brother of the deceased.
At one stage, the iron-made flagpole fell on the nearby high-voltage electric wire, leaving him critically injured. He was admitted to the DMCH.
Speaking to Bangla Tribune, DMCH Burn Unit chief Dr Samanta Lal Sen said, “Two legs of the patient were separated from his body several days after his admission and he died of 35 percent injuries on Friday.”
Over seven people, mostly youths are undergoing treatment at the burn unit, who Dr Sen said sustained burns while hoisting flags of FIFA World Cup participating countries.
