Home-bound people travelling to different regions of Bangladesh via trains have continued to suffer as many inter-district trains have been delayed at Kamalpur railway station in Dhaka.
Apart from the distress caused by rain, commuters were seen waiting at the station for their designated trains to arrive on Thursday morning.
Similar situation was also noticed on Wednesday. Railway authorities have also announced that trains, especially the ones that are northern region-bound, will be delayed.
Almost no trains left the station on time on Thursday (Aug 8). Kamalapur station Manager Mohammad Aminul Haq said: "On the second day of the Eid journey, a total of 55 trains, including three special trains, will leave the station for different destinations.
“We are doing our best to maintain the schedule. Only those trains that arrived late are departing late, the rest of the trains have maintained the schedule."
According to the Train Tracking Monitoring System until 1:45pm, Chilahati-bound Nilsagar Express was late by three hours and ten minutes; Rangpur-bound Rangpur Express by three hours and twenty-two minutes; Panchagarh-bound Ekata Express by two hours and fifty minutes and Rajshahi-bound Dhumketu Express by two hours and forty-two minutes.
Meanwhile, Khulna-bound Sundarban Express was also one hour and forty-five minutes late, according to the Train Tracking Monitoring System.
Besides, Rajshahi-bound train Silk City Express, a which was supposed to leave Dhaka at 2:40pm, and Chapainawabganj-bound Rajshahi Express are yet to leave the Kamalapur Railway Station.
A total of 55 trains are scheduled to leave Kamalapur Railway Station including three Eid special trains.
