A man has been hacked to death at wedding of his daughter at Dhaka’s Moghbazar on Thursday (Aug 1).
The victim, 47-year-old Tula Mia was hacked to death by a man, who the police have identified as Sajib Ahmed Rocky.
The bride’s mother, Feroza Begum was also injured during the attack.
“A man hacked the bride’s father and mother with a sharp weapon during the wedding. The locals rescued them and rushed them to Insaf Hospital,” Hatirjheel police OC Abdur Rashid told Bangla Tribune.
He added that Tula Mia died while undergoing treatment there and the bride’s mother has been transferred to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
“The locals beat up the attacker and handed him over to the police,” he said.
Hatirjheel police Sub-Inspector Md Ramjan Ali said that the attacker, Rocky, was also injured and is receiving medical care at DMCH.
