A court in Dhaka has sent Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) Assistant Director Shah Md Sadrul Alam to jail in a case filed for irregularities over the design of FR Tower in Dhaka’s Banani.
Dhaka Senior Special Judges' Court Judge KM Imrul Kayes handed the order after rejecting his bail petition on Tuesday (Jul 30) after Anti-Corruption Commission produced Alam in it, said ACC Public Prosecutor Mahmud Hossain Jahangir.
On Monday (Jul 29), the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court cleared the way for ACC to arrest two respective RAJUK officials in the case scrapping a High Court order that directed the two officials to surrender before a lower court in six weeks in connection with a case.
On Mar 27, a deadly fire broke out at FR Tower, killing 25 people and injuring 73 others.
Later, the ACC filed a case with the capital's Gulshan polices in June, accusing three RAJUK officials of committing corruption and forging design plan of Banani’s FR Tower.
