The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) arrested former Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) assistant director Shah M Sadrul Alam on charge of his alleged involvement in design forgery of FR Tower.
The arrest was made late on Monday (Jul 29) from the capital’s Banani area, said ACC Deputy Commissioner (public relation) Pranab Kumar Bhattacharjee.
He said Sadrul Alam was being held in Ramna police custody for the night and he will be produced before the court on Tuesday (Jul 30).
On Mar 28, a fire that broke out at the 22-story commercial building FR Tower in the upscale Banani area, killed 27 people and injured more than 70 people.
The draft watchdog filed a case against 23 people including the owner of the building and two former chairman of RAJUK for design forgery in the construction of FR Tower.
ACC Deputy Commissioner Abu Bakkar Siddique filed the case at its Segunbagica offices in Dhaka.
The defendants filed a bail plea and on Jul 16, court completed the hearing in the case.
