As many as 561 new patients infected with dengue have been admitted to different hospitals across Bangladesh over the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the patients in Dhaka, 145 were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in the last 24 hours, 57 to Mitford Hospital, 11 to Dhaka Shishu Hospital, 48 to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, 80 to Holy Family Red Crescent Hospital, 4 to Birdem Hospital, 16 to Rajarbagh Police Lines Hospital, 55 to Mugda Medical College and Hospital, 6 to Kurmitola General Hospital and 137 to different private hospitals.
Among the patients, 559 are of Dhaka city, one of outside the capital and another of Khulna, news agency UNB quoted DGHS Assistant Director Dr Aysha Akter saying.
With the latest figure, the total number of dengue admission rose to 2,237. Of which, 2,058 are in Dhaka and another 179 in outside the capital, according to the DHHS’ Emergency Operations and Control Room.
The DGHS has said eight people have died of dengue this year so far. However, Bangla Tribune found the figure of deaths nears 30.
The mosquito-borne viral disease has taken a serious turn this year with official figures showing over 7,766 people getting infected since January to July 23.
