A court in Dhaka has fixed Oct 7 for the hearing of indictment on the graft cases filed against Awami League leader and former state minister Abdul Mannan Khan and his wife Hasina Sultana.
Dhaka’s Third Special Judge Abu Syed Dilzar Hossain rescheduled the hearing on Sunday after the defence moved a petition seeking time citing the client’s sickness.
On Aug 21, 2014, the Anti-Corruption Commission sued former state minister for housing and public works Abdul Mannan Khan on charges of hiding information on assets worth Tk 75 million.
There days after, Khan, who is a presidium member of ruling Awami League, surrendered to the court and secured bail.
On Oct 21, 2014, the ACC also sued Khan’s wife Hasina Sultana on charges of hiding information on wealth worth Tk 18.65 million and illegally amassing wealth worth Tk 345.5 million.
Two days later, Sultana surrendered to the court and secured bail.
In 2015, the ACC separately pressed charges against Mannan and his wife.
